Nassau, New Providence  /  Since 2019

Carved with
Zuri on it.

Wooden pieces cut, painted, and named by hand by Keno. Pick a size, pick a colour, tell him the name.

1

Pick a size.

Prices are final

Eight and ten inch are the two he keeps making. Twelve is not a standard size, but he will do one if you ask, so confirm it with him before you count on it.

2

Pick the paint.

Free, always

The box stays bare pine. This is the colour of your name and your design. Every one of these is off a box he has already finished, and any other colour is free too, just ask.

3

Type the name.

This is the whole point

It goes on the lid, in the paint colour you picked. Up to 12 letters. Two names on one box is fine, he has done it, just ask him.

4

Pick what goes on the front.

Also free

These are boxes he has already made, not a catalogue. Send him a picture of anything else on WhatsApp and he will tell you straight whether he can carve it.

He has also done these. Mention it when you message him.

  • More than one slot. One box came back with three, labelled tens, twenties and hundreds, so the notes go in sorted.
  • A hinge and a latch instead of a screwed lid, if it needs to open again.
  • A second name on a second face. One box, two children, a different design on each side.
  • Dark stain instead of bare pine, which changes the whole look.
New Providence

Made here. Not shipped here.

Half the wooden souvenirs sold in Nassau were made in a factory somewhere else and aged to look old. This is a real bench on New Providence, and the man standing at it answers his own phone. Two numbers, both his.

Off the bench lately

Recent work.

What people say

Six years of pieces, and a man who picks up the phone.

Ask around. He has been doing this since 2019, and most of what he makes goes to somebody who was sent by a friend.

How ordering works

Four steps, no surprises.

01

Pick it

Choose the size, the colour, and the name on this page.

02

He confirms

Keno replies on WhatsApp with the final price and how long it takes.

03

Half up front

Fifty percent to start. Card, bank transfer, or cash.

04

Collect or ship

Pick it up in Nassau, or he arranges shipping and quotes you first.

Before you ask

The questions everybody asks.

Ask Keno when you send your order. He tells you before you pay anything, and he will not start until you have the number.

Because your name goes on it. Once it is carved with MALIK on the side, nobody else can buy it. The deposit is what makes a one off possible.

He ships. Tell him where you are and he quotes it before you pay. He will not promise a date he cannot hit.

Say so in your first message. Sizes he has ready can be named and finished fast. Ask before you assume it is too late.

Yes, on New Providence, by the man on this page. Call him and hear a Bahamian pick up.

Last thing

Somebody's name is going on the next one.

It takes about a minute. Pick a size, pick a colour, type a name, and it lands on Keno's phone.
